Performances for Schools
The Outreach programme from the National Youth Theatre brings musical theatre to the schools of Auckland. As the culmination of our training programme, NYT mount two large scale productions each year at the Aotea Centre and a shorter OnStage production at the BNZ Theatre, Due Drop Events Centre, Manukau. Our school matinee performances enable large educational groups to attend these productions. In 2019 we enabled more than 11,000 students to see Annie & The Wizard of Oz at the Aotea Centre, fully funding half of them including transportation. For many of them this was the first time they had ever seen live theatre – for some it was the first time they had been into the city at all. The experience of seeing their peers onstage is hugely aspirational – we then follow up with each school with the option of scholarships for deserving participants.
Our next OnStage production, Alice The Wonderland Musical school performances (3 performances) are scheduled for Thursday 28 November, 9.45 am and 12.15 pm and Friday 29 November, 11.30 am - 2024 at the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre. Our next shorter OnStage production , Disney's The Lion King Jr. school performances are scheduled for Monday 02 September & Tuesday 3 September, 10.30 am and 1 pm.

If your school group includes families who would find it financially prohibitive to attend, please contact us for information on our complete sponsorship packages, which include transportation.
