Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a 4 month training programme, building up to another season of NYT's dazzling performances at Auckland's Aotea Centre

National Youth Theatre is an all-access training programme for children and young adults aged between 7 - 21. You don't need to audition to be part of the ensemble, once you register, you are part of the programme and will perform on stage in all performances. Our lead roles are auditioned from within the cast.

Rehearsals are broken up by age group and all of the skills you need to participate in the show are taught by our experienced tutors. Rehearsals will be mostly Sunday afternoons, with lead rehearsals on Thursday evenings.

At the end of the programme there will be four public performances (on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd June) and three subsidised performances for schools, on Thursday 20th June at 9.45 am & 12.15 pm, and Friday 21st June at 10:30am.  If your school is interested in attending please get in touch.

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" is a beloved musical that tells the timeless story of Joseph, a young man with a remarkable coat of many colors. The musical, with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, offers a vibrant and energetic take on the tale of Joseph, his jealous brothers, and his journey from hardship to triumph. With catchy songs, dynamic choreography, and a unique blend of musical styles, the show has been a favorite for audiences of all ages for decades. It's a joyous, family-friendly production that showcases themes of resilience, forgiveness, and the power of dreams.

Rehearsals continue every Sunday except for middle weekend of the school holidays and Labour weekend

Dance Extension Workshop: Sunday 18th February

1st Round Auditions & Callbacks: 24th-25th February

Dance Extension Auditions: Sunday 3rd March

2nd Round Auditions: Saturday 9th March

2nd Round Callbacks: Saturday 16th March

Weekend Intensive: Saturday 4th - Sunday 5th May, Camp Adair (Team Purple, dance extension team and selected leads required). 
There will be rehearsal as usual for Red/Yellow/Green on this weekend

Runs: 11th & 13th June 6:30 - 9:00pm (Leads and older cast)

Saturday 15th June - Aotea Centre - placements - full cast - timing TBC
Sunday 16th June - Bayfield School - runs - full cast - timing TBC

Theatre Week: 17th - 23rd June (some time will be required off school)
