Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world, and now you have the opportunity to be a part of this one-of-a-kind musical. Join our cast as we bring the African savanna to life onstage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.

Fully funded financial hardship scholarships are available. These scholarships are awarded to students from low-equity schools who are deserving of a scholarship to this programme.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

The Lion King JR. is a 60-minute, one-act version of the hit Broadway musical and animated feature film, featuring classic songs including "Circle of Life," "I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” "He Lives in You,” and "Hakuna Matata.”

This is a smaller scale, intensive programme. Our cast will be broken up by age into groups, each group rehearsing separately for 90 minutes on Sunday afternoons. Thanks to our partners at Due Drop Events Centre, we will be performing in their amazing BNZ Theatre. Rehearsals take place at Weymouth School.

The first rehearsal will be on Sunday 7th July. Weymouth Primary School.

REHEARSAL TIMES: (ages are by cut off date 17th July 2024)

Juniors (7-12yrs) 1pm - 2:30pm

Seniors - (13-18yrs) 3pm - 4:30pm (Leads as required until 6pm)

Leads - Thursdays 6.30-8.30pm (Leads are selected from within the cast during rehearsals)

At the end of the programme there will be three public performances (on Saturday 31st August & Sunday 1st September) and four subsidised performances for schools, on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd September at 10:30am and 1:00pm.  If your school is interested in attending please get in touch.

Registration Fee $420 incl GST (includes NYT Lion King Jr Cast t-shirt, Lion King Jr Script and souvenir programme)

Please note that time off school will be required on Friday 30th August, Monday 2nd September and Tuesday 3rd September.
